Jeff Leeson Bio
Jeff Leeson is a stand-up comedian and actor from London, Ontario, Canada. He was bitten by the comedy bug after receiving a standing ovation for his valedictorian speech in grade 8. Jeff stepped on a comedy club stage for the first time when he was 14 years old and has never looked back. At the age of 16, just 2 years in to his stand-up comedy career Jeff finished second in the “Funniest Person in London” competition at the 2001 Canadian Comedy Awards, making him the youngest finalist in the competitions history. In 2003 Jeff embarked on his first headlining tour, hitting up 11 cities across Ontario. In 2004 Jeff was selected as one of only 20 participants in the prestigious San Francisco Comedy Competition making it to the quarter finals.
In 2007 Jeff began his very first North American tour encompassing 10 states in all. In May of 2009 Jeff released his long awaited and much anticipated debut CD and DVD entitled “Jeff Leeson: Just Getting Started” Although a 10 year veteran, the name is suiting as Jeff gets set to take his 2 comedy Tours “The Young Gunz of Comedy Tour” and “The Just getting Started Tour” across North America playing over 50 cities in 2009 and 2010. His laid back, observational, and personal approach to humour leaves every crowd wanting more. Jeff has been described as a breath of fresh air on stage and as a natural performer by several colleagues.
Jeff is also a very accomplished actor, having starred in several live theatre productions in London, Ontario one of which he received a Powell-Wasse Performance arts award for his portrayal of a high school bully in “Fall on Deaf Ears” In 2004 Jeff was cast as the lead in the MTV series “Shady” playing a cheating boyfriend, although the show was not picked up Jeff received critical acclaim for his work. In 2005 Jeff played another sketchy boyfriend in the film “Choices” which went on to win a “Best Independent Production award” upon its release in 2007.
Jeff Leeson can also be heard on radio, having regular airplay on XM Satellite radio and being invited as an in studio guest on the widely popular Bob and Tom Show, for which Jeff also appeared on their nightly television show on WGN.
In May of 2010 Jeff was given every comedians dream job as the host of London Tonight with Jeff Leeson (a late night talk show based in London Ontario) which has now taken him away from the continuous touring schedule. The show wrapped up in June of 2011 with 3 national impression award nominations and was the highest rated independent production on Rogers TV in London. Now in 2012 Jeff is about to begin hosting a new show in Toronto with the hopes of taking it national.
